I just bought a nice set of set of smooth revolver grips. They are a little slick feeling to me and move around in my hands. Do anyone know of anyone that I can send my grips to have them checkered?

I don't have an answer to your question other than to say that you may be able to send them back to the original manufacturer to have them checkered.

It may be cheaper to sell the smooth grips and use the proceeds to purchase a set of checkered grips.

It probably isn't worth getting them checkered. You are better off selling them and buying a set of checkered ones - more cost effective. Sad to say, but that's how it is these days............

It kinda sucks. I bought a set of Herrets Jordan trooper grips and they fit my hands really well, but they told me when I ordered they they can't and won't checker them. I like the feel of them they just slide around in my hands. Guess I could try with the dremel tool but I'm afrade I will mess them up.

Why don't you put one of the rubber slip on grips on it. ;) It will probably look better than you putting a dermal to them.

8-shot,
I can checker your grips for you, the price is $75 including return postage. Here are some before & after pics of grips that I have restored:

WOW... you did a really good job on those stocks

I sent you a private message with some question gatorbaiter. Looks like you do excellent work!

I have a set of pre war N service grips. The right is worn from holster wear pretty bad and the left could be sharpened up. How much to re-checker only? I can refinish them. Thanks, Larry

I received my grips back from Gatorbaiter. Talk about amazing. He is worth every penny! I will upload photos when I get a chance. He took my old Jordan Trooper grips and made them great looking by checkering them.

Try checkering them yourself. You can buy some very basic checkering tools from places like Brownells for under $20 and do it yourself. I had several pairs of K-frame magna PC's that came off used police guns and the right side is always worn down more than the left. I've done my own on several pairs and they turned out pretty good. The more you practice, the better you get as you learn what not to do. If you are a boomer like me, you may need an extra strong pair of reading glasses to see what you are doing. A little cleaning up of the wood and a couple of coats of Tru Oil and you have a nice set of grips.

I have tried checkering, and find it does require a certain talent that I do not have. I have no trouble smoothing up and action, but checkering isn't my thing. Be sure to practice on something with no value until you are satisfied you want to try it.

Larry,
Sorry for being so late to answer, I haven't visited here for a while (been busy checkering grips!) To rechecker is $65 which includes refinishing, unless you request no refinish, price is still the same.
