Model 19-5 hammer follow?
Hello,
I'm new to revolvers and have an old 19-5 that I recently coated with Cerakote and after assembly have discovered an issue with it. I can't say if the issue existed before or after coating so it may not have anything to do with it.
The gun now only fires SA correctly on one chamber. I coated the extractor very lightly and have since removed the coating on the face of the "nubs" on the extractor with no change.
The other 4 chambers act like they are setting the "hand" back and causing the hammer hooks to ride the trigger down instead of swinging past it as it should.
What I need to know is how critical is this tolerance and if it could produce the issue I'm having? The coating added .0005" at most but having buffed that off I would have expected it to fire on all chambers in SA if they were correctly faced to begin with.
Is there another area I should be looking at?
Thanks for any help.
If I take the side plate off and hold the hand forward it fires single action everytime.

The hand should have spring pressure holding it forward. If you removed the hand, likely you didn't reset the spring properly when you reinstalled it.

Correct.
I did reset the spring. It is above the small peg on the hand.

Is the cylinder stop popping up into the slots with an audible click?

Yes.
Here is a video of the gun. Near the end you see me slapping the trigger which moves it past the notch so the hammer falls, but normal release causes the follow seen earlier in the video

I was asked via PM if the hammer and trigger had been coated. It has, but only the exposed area you see in the video. Inside the contact surfaces have not been touched though.
I will try to post video of the action with the side plate off tomorrow if there are no solutions.
Also, the hammer does fall if cocked in SA and I push the back of the hammer without touching the trigger. Does not take much pressure at all.

Your revolver does have push-off. Correct that by following the instructions in the FAQ's and then see if the problem evident in the video continues.
