Default barrel upside down

This is the stupid of the week post. Talking to wife reassembling MP 40 5 in. pro. Put the barrel in put slide back on and somehow mounted with the barrel upside down and slide on. Suggestions on how to get it apart? I gotta be the dumbest dude so can we skip that part? Thanks

Why they call them gun smiths. Thanks Mark for doing the impossible. Right side up and running again.

Horseman -

Unfortunately I can't involve my wife in this same mistake - it is all mine because I wasn't paying attention.

It wasn't clear if you were provided a solution or had to take it to a gun smith to get this resolved.

Any reply would be appreciated.

It wasn't my wife (thankfully) in my case; it was my grandsons who distracted me. Somehow that excuse doesn't make me feel any less dumb.

I couldn't tell from your post how you solved the problem. Would you mind reposting the solution? Thanks <sheepish grin>

So I guess we can assume the MP 40 is not Murphy proof.

Thumbs up Barrel in Upside Down

I did the same thing this morning.: After waiting for eight months for this pistol and darn put the barrel in upside down. Long story short I slid the slide back a little and on the right side of the gun between the slide and body you will see a silver looking bar. I took a piece of thin wood and moved it to the rear and the slide came off, installed the barrel in correctly and works fine.

Aw, don't feel bad. Semi-autos are always tricky. I remember the first time I field stripped a Glock--the simplest of all autos--I wasted a half-hour trying to get the slide back on before I --pulled--the--trigger.

I do suggest to anyone not allowing yourself to be distracted while working on firearms.

Default Saw similar problem

I work at a gun store in Washington state and had a customer bring in his M&P40 and had also installed the barrel upside down. I had to drift the pins in the frame out and then work the slide out from there. It took some work with the mallet but I eventually got it all squared away.
