Hey, fellas. I'm a bit embarrassed now, but I figure you're never too old to learn something new. In the past, I have taken apart all my S&W's to clean and polish the innards and did the same to my new 686. I'll be damned if I've come across this issue before: I cannot re-install the hand torsion spring in the trigger. Hell, after spending a few hours fiddling with it, I still can't even visualize how it goes in. I've read the other boards out there and the instructions don't seem to apply. What I really need is a photo of the spring installed. Can anyone out there please help me out?
If you look at the top of the smithing column you will see a post called FAQ's. Posted by 500 Magnum Nut. There is a picture of the torsion spring if you scroll down. Take a look. It was posted there to help with common smithing problems.
Thanks fellas. I think the FAQs thread has what I need. I am gonna try it tomorrow when I'm fresh. I've been at it for awhile and I'm ready for a beer and rest. I appreciate the help--alot.
I wish I had a buck for each time someone needed help with that spring, I'd be retired living at the range.
Yea, I had one fly out too, so that's why I snapped the pictures.
Sorry for fetching out this thread. I got the same problem with the hand torsion spring on my 686-5, but in the FAQs are no pictures of the assembled trigger. Could somebody please help and send me the missing picture? Thanks in advance.
