Relatively new here. Does anyone know of any gunsmiths in the Cleveland Ohio area that they have had positive experiences with? Need some work done on various firearms and really don't want to send anything out of state. So, if you can kindly pass along any recommendations.

I haven't been back since I moved to FL in '04, but this place did all my work and I never had a complaint.

But, I do not know if they still have the same gunsmith, as when I was active locally.

Who notes a good reliable Gunsmith is a pearl beyond price...

the only real gunsmith is walt at vieths at 1585 east 361 st. willoughby 440 942 7120 ive had him work on a number of guns he allso does great blueing and restoration work. smiths, colts, winchesters, and old doubles

Thanks guys, ironically I had gone to Stonewalls to have their gunsmith look at one of my pistols. Their guy comes in apparently when he feels like it as he does this as a side job. Ended up talking to the lady who owns the place and she gave me Walt's number.

You are close to Andy Horvath La Grange Ohio he is among the best pistol smiths in the country reasonable prices and fat turn around 440-458-4369

Want to let you NE Ohioans know that on Oct 1 at North Olmsted gun club from 10 am to 4 pm there will be the NE Ohio bunch meeting. Watch in the lounge in Aug for all the info. Had over 50 S&W enthusiasts come to the last one. Larry

A note abt the gunsmith at stonewall. Don took the job there bc his hours at his regular job were cut back big time. They called him back so his gunsmithing hours are fewer. His knowledge S&W is very good. I've seen some of his work, he's good. Larry

I know Don very well, if you need anything he would be able to fix or adjust anything you might need, and yes he works there part time when time is rite for him.
He's a very good revo shooter also, "very competitive" and his custom work is exceptional well worth the wait, he use to teach at Pittsburgh School of Gunsmithing many years ago.

you got 3 good ones there, Andy ,Don and Walt are ALL very good......
Walt was my partner in our shop back in the early 80's, he is very good at restorations, Andy excells in 'custom' work, and Don as said is good for the competative shooters, gotta do the "everyday" stuff, but doesn;t hurt to "specialize"....indeed come to the NE Ohio bunch, you;ll find some of the guys there were armorers, (some of us though are 'retired')

I realize that there's been a long time lag between my post and the previous ones but I'd like to know if Walt who formerly worked at Vieth's is still doing any gunsmithing. I'd like to have some work done to my 1917 S&W . Thanks!

Can’t say if Walt is still working but Andy Horvath is and a finer gunsmith is hard to find, especially on the older revolvers.

Kevin

Walt is kinda retired and the shop he worked at closed a couple years ago. Andy Horvath has made a few custom S&W’s for me, he knows S&W pretty good. Andy is an old school gunsmith. He also is getting older so don’t wait long, said he isn’t planning on retiring yet. Larry
