Default 624 barrel change

Who changes barrels for a reasonable price? I bought a
624 44 spec. ss with a 6.5" barrel. I see a 3" barrel with
what appears to be all the needed parts for a swap on GB.
Not sure how much I want to sink into this project.

First off welcome to the forum.
I'm sure there are good gunsmiths who would do this, but I'd advise against it. If you spend much time here you'll see the 624 is a very sought after revolver. This conversion would make it less desirable to a collector. They didn't make many of them, and you're fortunate to have found one. I have a 4" model and it's one of my favorite revolvers. I would keep it as is and look for another 3" gun. Then you'd have two of 'em!
All the best,
Jim

Can this change not be reversed? I was planning on keeping the original
barrel.I would love to have "both of them" ,as you suggest. I can only find lew horton
short barrels, not paying that much, don't care how neat his name sounds.

Every time you change barrels you risk bending/cracking the frame. I would not do it to a perfectly sound gun in original condition. If you had a bulged barrel then the change would be worthwhile.

S&W will do the barrel swap and are pretty reasonable.
