Default Custom Rear Sight for Model 19-6

Hello everyone...I'm new to the forum and am excited to learn from other members.

I bought a Behlert rear sight off of Gunbroker.com for my 19-6 and it does not fit, although it was advertised for a Model 19. The seller and myself are working things out as I write this. My questions are: does anybody know anything about the Behlert sight and perhaps where to get one that fits? And, are there any other "custom" rear sights for my Smith? I plan on using it in bullseye competition shooting.

I am a former New Mexico State Police officer and carried the Model 19 as my sidearm for many years. I have a great affection for this particular Smith. I guess I'm showing my age after admitting carrying a revolver and not an auto! In my opinion, it is one of the most reliable and accurate factory revolvers ever produced.

Anyhow...thanks for any information regarding the sights.

panhandle_gunslinger,

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

I am just curious (not criticizing you) as to why you want to replace the Factory sight on the M19 to begin with. I always thought that S&W sights were pretty good, actually quite good. Is there a specific reason? I have even seen people install S&W sights on NON S&W revolvers. I was just wondering why, that's all.

I think you will enjoy the Forum!

Respectfully,
Chief38

An expert needs to chime in but I think the screw holes moved in the dash changes to prevent top strap wear from gas cutting. -2 or -3 I think.

Good question Chief...although the S&W sights are very good, I will admit, I was looking for more of a micro adjustment type of rear sight. Honestly, that's the only reason. Perhaps I'm getting too picky .

Here's another question: does S&W make different rear sight blades?
