I have two pre model number K38s. One is a 1954 Combat Masterpiece; the other is a 1949 Target Masterpiece. The cylinder stop spring assembly under the 5th screw is different in each gun.
The 1954 gun has a stud with a shank the spring fits on. The 1949 gun has a stud without a shank that fits against the base of the spring.
I have risassembled both guns at one time or another and did not note how the spring assembly came out, trusting Kuhnhousen to help me put it back together. However, the shop manual does not show a cutaway of which end goes against the cylinder stop for either gun. Q: Does the spring ride on the cylinder stop, or does the stud ride on the cylinder stop?
