S & W PPK/S Trigger Pull Improvement
I have a PPK/S .380 made by S & W under license by Walther and the initial double action trigger pull is quite heavy.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be done to lighten the double action trigger pull?
Thanks for your help.

I'd recommend a lighter hammer spring. Go to gunsprings.com and look at the selection for PPKs. You might buy several and see how light you can go and still be reliable.

But note that PP/PPKs have always had heavy trigger pulls, in all manufacturing variations. I've always assumed it was a consequence of their design.

When you are dealing with a blow back design you have to be careful lightening the hammer spring. A heavy hammer spring helps slow down the slide and changing to a lighter spring can cause the slide to speed up, which will batter the slide and frame, as well as induce feeding problems.

The Walther PP series has a heavy DA pull and that's due to the design limitations of getting all those features in such a small package.
It all comes down to the available leverage of the design, and there's not much that can be done to lighten it.
Attempts to install lighter springs often cause ignition problems and as above, can cause battering or cracking of the frame.
Most PP series owners just accept the heavy DA pull as the price of owning a classic design, and get used to it.
After a while you no just longer notice the heavy pull.
You can be surprised when you let someone else shoot your Walther and see them struggling with the trigger and checking to see if the safety is on.
You've grown so use to it you no longer notice how heavy it is.
Your best option is to just shoot the gun until you become used to it, then let an unsuspecting friend try it out while you snicker behind him as his hand trembles as he pulls and pulls.

Thanks again for the suggestions and comments. I have about decided to leave it "as is" and learn to put up with the heavy first pull. (Or, just manually cock it).
eak...
