Smile re barreled the 629 today

Well the MGW N frame frame insert came in yesterday, so of course I had to get right to it! Using the frame insert, I clamped the frame to by workbench in an improvised frame press, then used a garand reciever wrench insert on my reciever wrench to grip the barrel near the ejector rod locking bolt. I clamped it here, as the shroud is fully supported/connected to barrel, unlike near the frame juncture. I had previously(daily for the last week) dripped KROL onto the barrel/frame juncture, as well as the shank protruding into the frame window.(don't know if this did any good, but certainly did no harm)
Upon unthreading, I could smell the pungent odor of some type of thread locking compound. I removed the 6" underlug Hunter barrel, and used this opporutinity to clean the frame window corner, while ensurring the threads in frame were clean and good. I had previously cleaned the 8 &3/8" original barrel's threads and shank. On test fit, the barrel hand tightened to about 11 o'clock, which I think is right for adequate crush fit. Back in the press, I threaded in the orig bbl, about 1/3 way, then applied a little blue Locktite...figured a little blue can,t hurt, right?...
I then torqued the barrel into alignment. I reinstalled the cyl and yoke (no gap 'tween yoke and frame) and eyballed the cyl/bbl gap, looked good. I then cycled the action in both single action and double action all good. Cyl gap meassues at .007". All in all, not a bad job at all.
BTW, the rev is a 629 no dash, not a -1 as my orinal post stated, my bad. Now I can't wait to shoot it!
