Default model 27 needs an action job

my 27 tends to start getting tight and tries to lock up during shooting. can anyone recommend a experienced gunsmith to fix it and smooth out the action?

Start with the basics: Is the cylinder face clean? Carbon build up can do that.

Which model 27 is it? I suggest that you take a systematic approach to what's going on before you send it somewhere.

If it turns out you do need a 'Smith. Andy Horvath, Diagonal Rd. Gun Shop, La Grange, OH 44050. 490-458-4369. One of the best S&W smiths around.

How about Sand Burr Ranch ?

I hear great things about them and their prices look reasonable.

I cleaned it after the range. I had a local gunsmith look it yesterday, he took it apart, oiled it and reassembled and it seemed better but I think it will happy again. it is a 27-2 full target. 8 3/8 barrel.

I have a 27-2 that has a very tight b/c gap and when I fire 50 or so rounds of lubed lead slugs it will start to get a little tight. All I do is take a cloth with a little solvent or bore cleaner on and wipe the front of the cylinder off and it's good for another 50 rounds.
