Default 651 misfire

I switched my post to the Smithing section. I went to the range yesterday with my 651 to sight in my new installed rear sight blade. My issue was 4 or 5 misfires out of about 50 rounds. I was using CCI, Winchester X, and Winchester Dynatip ammo, all from Wallyworld. No misfires with the lighter load Dynatip. Any ideas why the misfires? Thanks.

22 mag's take a hard hit from the firing pin to fire. Some things to check:

1. The correct mainspring (hammer spring) should be red colored, they are different from the centerfire "J's".

2. Make sure the cartridge is seating all the way, sometimes residue will built up in the chamber that will need to be brushed out.

3. Check for cylinder endshake

4. Find a cartridge that works well, and stay with that, CCI's work well for me.

The mainspring is black and the firing pin is a flat rectangle shape unlike the round pin on my newer model 63. I will give it another try this weekend and keep track of the ammo used.
