Default BEFORE I SCREW IT UP

In my long hunt to repair a 1953 built 38/44 HD I plan to use some crane bushings (shims) from Powers. My question is this: is the extractor rod a right hand or left hand thread.
I'd really hate to damge this fine old shooter. Any help appreciated.
Al

Up until the early '60s they were all right hand thread. I made a tool out of two pieces of aluminum block that screw together with cap screws. I drilled a slightly undersized hole where the two blocks mate. Works great and didn't cost a dime. The commercial ones I've seen won't work for large-head ejector rods, only the newer type.

All you need is a wooden clothspin and a pair of pliers.
