Default 586 light strikes

So I recently picked up my first revolver a beautiful 586-3 blued. Here is the original thread.

But, I had issues with leading and you all helped me out and it looks great! Well I noticed yesterday alot of light strikes in DA, I think part may be ammo, but I noticed when comparing my strain screw to the oem picture on MidwayUSA it was missing .10 to .125 from its length!!! Well I have been reading that Smith discontinued the strain screws for the square butts...I just called gave them the part number and sent it to me for free! They have plenty it sounds like! I will keep everyone posted, and may order a mainspring just to keep on hand!

Well come to find out it was the RWS Match ammo that seemed to have hard primers! I took some Winchester and Remington UMC to the range today and not a single issue! Let me tell you what a sweet gun this is! I was nervous about .357 recoil after my first experience with a snub. Super accurate and a real pleasure to shoot!

If your revolver is for defensive work, suggest you continue tracking down the issue until the 586 reliably ignites just about any (quality) factory load you feed it.

It's not uncommon for end users to shorten the strain screw. I suggested that you check it in your original thread. Replacing it, and the main spring is a good start on any smith revolver with light primer strikes. The parts are cheap, and it gives a good baseline to start from. The wilson kit is good, because it also gives you a couple of rebound springs to help adjust the DA pull. I have read a few complaints about the power-rib springs, but have no personal experience with them.
