S&W repair on an early "I" frame
Will S&W work on these early "I"frames. Looking at a barrel swap on a 1930's vintage .32HE I have all the parts. Ditto on a model 37 flat latch swapping the 2" barrel for a 3" again I have the parts.
Thanks,
Ischia

Their usual response is they will not work on them "because" they have no parts, so they might. They may now say they might break something in the process of doing the work you want and don't have those parts...good luck.

I agree with murphydog, that's my exact understanding as well. I also understand they will refer you to David Chicoine who has a premium reputation here on the forum.

Fifteen years ago I asked Roy Jinks the exact same question and his answer was a flat, unequivocal "NO" due to the lack of any replacement parts for them @ S&W. I seriously doubt the answer has changed. Fortunately, a barrel swap, assuming you can find the barrel, is within the purview of virtually any competent gun smith.
