Default 19-4 Question?

In order to take cylinder apart, what direction do I turn the ejector rod?

I know ölder"Smiths have left hand thread, but is a 19-4 in this category?

Thanks in advance!

In 1959, with the model 19-1, the extractor rod was changed from right hand to left hand thread, acording to the third edition of The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson.

Don't forget to put some empty cases in the cylinder before you start twisting....

I have to ask. Why do you put empty cases in before twisting?

Empty your gun, look under the ejector star. You will see two little alignment pins sticking out of the cylinder. Rumor has it that unless you have empty cases in the cylinders, you can twist those off when you go cranking on the ejector rod.

Also, some people use a drill chuck to secure the rod for removal but
be very careful not to bend the rod or everything will be out of alignment.
