Default My Sigma SW9F

Hey guys,

So my the slider on my sigma is fading. It gun overall works well, but the finish or black paint is coming off on the slider. Would one want to have it painted by a gunsmith, or should I look into possibly replacing the slider? Or, should I just admire the character is adds? Also the right side of the magazine release button is kinda beat it. It doesn't bother the performance at all, just a cosmetic issue. Would it be easy to replace that part? Thanks, I'm new to all of this, and guns in general.

Insaneykaney:

Welcome to the forum - you're going to love it here. First off, the part you are referring to is known as the slide. The slide and all of it's components (barrel, recoil spring, guide rod, etc.) is usually referred to as the upper receiver or top end. A "slider" is a type of window or door that opens/closes with lateral movement. The Sigma slide is made of stainless steel coated and in the older models, was covered with a flat black colored coating. The coating is durable, so I don't know why yours is coming off unless it has been deliberately removed, or if this is a defect from the factory. Frankly, I would suggest calling Customer Service at S&W to get their recommendations as to how to proceed. If it goes back to the factory for refinishing, they should also be able to replace the magazine release - all at no cost as warranty repairs.

Please let us know what happens.

Best of luck,

Dave

I called S&W Customer Service and the agent told me since I bought the gun used, they wouldn't do anything for me since it is just a cosmetic issue. Oh well.
