S&W 586 MIM hammer replacement
Does anyone know if there is a company out there that makes a CNC or non MIM hammer for a new style 586. I was able to find a trigger but no luck on a hammer.

Keep looking..... they are out there. Each day that goes by they get a bit more difficult to find and a bit more expensive, but I have seen them on ebay, Gunbroker and on other sites.

I think the short answer is "NO". There were some PC N frame forged hammers for the FMFP guns but I'm not aware of there being any forged hammers for the FMFP K/L frames.
Apex Tactical makes a "real steel" (but not forged) hammer for K/L frames but it's a "bobbed", lightened competition hammer.

Still need help
I just want to clarify, I just want a real steel hammer and trigger for my new 586 it has a FMFP (frame mounted firing pin). I did some research and I believe I can put and forged case hardened trigger from an older 586, it is my understanding that most triggers are interchangeable. Now getting back to the hammer I did check out apex tactical, that is what I'm looking for just not bobbed.

Frequently you can make the swap. The old forged parts have more variance than the MIM parts. The only real "fitting" you do is to the sear. Keep in mind you are, to an extent, taking "potluck". The "good old" forged parts guns were "fitted" by sitting down with a bunch of parts to sort thru to find the ones that would work together.
