Anyone have work done by C & S?
I have a shooter grade 4" 66-2 that I am considering having C&S modify into a 3" RB. Any thoughts?
Why? Because I love 66 3" RB's and it is much cheaper than buying one. I have had it since I got it new in 1983 and it has been shot a lot.

I have a Browning HiPower that C&S worked their magic on some years ago and I could not be happier. I would bet that they do a fine job on revolvers. They do have a pretty long wait time and I don't know what they charge for the work that you want done. Might be expensive.

Based on their website it would run about $400.

Question. I recently bought a 4" md 629-1 in mint condition at a local
auction. When I got it home I came to realize that some of the springs
must have been changed. The mainspring looks to be more narrow
than an original spring and the effort to cock the hammer is less than
normal. The trigger return spring is also very light. There is a stamping
near the bottom of the grip frame that looks like an S with a C over-
stamp. I'm not familiar with C&S referenced in this thread. Could this
stamp on my 629 indicate work by this company? Any information
appreciated.

Well, could be considerably more than that if the "high mileage" gun needs replacement of worn parts to bring the whole thing into new spec, as you would certainly want after all that modification work.
My last Model 66 project (for an IDPA gun) ate an extra $150, which is actually modest as projects go.

I am a retired gunsmith. I had the opportunity to visit C&S's shop and observe. From what I observed, I can't recommend them highly enough. Any job C&S takes on is going to be done to perfection. They are a little 'pricey', but you only have to pay for quality once. ........... Big Cholla

They made an "Extreme Duty" rear sight with tritium tubes for me and sighted it in with the ammo I specified.
Some years ago they also corrected a bad hammer fit and tuned the action on a Colt 1860 Signature Series for me.
Great work. IF they'll do the job for you, it will be superb.

I have never sent a gun to them, but I did buy a Browning Hi-Power (used) that the previous owner had sent to them for a trigger job and combat package. The Hi Power was super smooth, and had an exceptionally light trigger - so light in fact that once or twice it shot bursts of 2 or 3 shots. I had to readjust the spring and all was well. Aside form that the gun was reliable, smooth and crisp.

I have a Hi Power that had action work by C&S, including replacement of the original hammer and sear with C&S parts. The results are exemplary. From my experience and what I've heard from other customers, you should have no doubt that whatever you have them do will be done in top-notch fashion. They aren't cheap, but they also aren't that expensive compared with other fine gunsmiths.
