Revolver barrel removal blocks
Having just started back into building S&W-based custom revolvers after a few years off...
I dragged out the old MGW frame wrench and inserts, but I've lost some of the barrel blocks. I think they came from Precision Specialties in Feeding Hills Mass.
They are 2" cubes of nylon with the barrel profile broached through the centre.
I think they came through the S&W armourer's school , along with the old leather lined "U" wrench that we used before the MGW one came along.
Any Ideas where you can get them?
Cheers

I have the same set of 4 that I purchased years ago. It was Precision Specialties, and I too have the leather lined aluminum frame wrench. One of the best purchases I ever made.
Do you know someone with a mill, or do you have one? I think Delrin or nylon blocks would not be too difficult to make using a mill. Sorry I can't help you.

You can cast whatever you need from two part epoxies or JB weld...... Greasing the gun and making a form from tape.
I use 3M panel bond adhesive.

Brownells sells frame blocks, check them out and see if they are the same width as your wrench.

He needs the barrel blocks, not the frame blocks.
Here are the blocks and wrench he is talking about, but I only have 3 blocks, not 4. The wrench wraps on the revolver frame in front of the frame window and works great. Of all the guns that I have removed and installed barrels on, I only have had one gun, a Model 686 with the IL, that I could not bust loose the barrel. S&W must have really torqued that barrel on. Excuse the foot .

Thanks Guys, they are the ones.
I cannot find Precision Specialties listed anywhere, so I guess they either went bust or got bought out... any ideas?
Casting the barrel blocks seems like a neat idea, thanks for that.

I tried searching for them on line, but to no avail. Good luck with your venture of casting the blocks.
