recoil springs
Anyone know of a source for recoil springs for the S&W 4053, 4516, etc. Mine uses the two spring system (inner/outer, rev 4).....OEM part #'s 10866, and 10867. I can't find the replacement springs at any of the usual places.
Thanks very much.

S&W didn't have them? Brownells, Wolff, Numrich?

Nothing at the usual places. Thought someone might have purchased some recently at a location I'm not aware of. Thanks though.

I've been looking for a couple of months with no success. When I called S&W, the rep said the springs were out of stock, but that he would send me the whole guide rod assembly. I think we both assumed the recoil springs would come with the assembly, but they didn't.
I'm surprised someone at the current supplier or Wolff just doesn't go to the computer and punch in the correct length, diameter, number of coils, etc. and make some.

You might try Jack First.
Jack First Gunshop - First in Gun Parts - Rapid City, South Dakota
Get the phone # from the web site and talk to them. They're very helpful. I got a Colt double spring from them a couple of years ago.

I'm still waiting on some back-ordered spring sets of those springs through S&W, myself. Their spring vendors have apparently been really busy.

I found a vendor that makes an almost identical spring to the smaller 10867 OEM. Wire diameter is only .001 larger....other specs are the same. I'm going to order some an test them ASAP. Report on the outcome in approx. two weeks.
