Default Model 36 cylinder stop

Model 36 very clean, very thin cylinder turn line and internals hardly show any wear.

let me do the best to describe it...

Trigger at full rest

the forward portion of the trigger that actuates the cylinder stop does not go over or click on the top of the stop.

this is only at full rest of the trigger.

is this an issue?

the revolver appears to function correctly with the hammer falling right when the cylinder appears to be locking up.

Maybe it just needs to be dry fired/shot for parts to wear in????

thanks in advance

I borrowed this image from FAQ

the front portion of the trigger never clicks past the point of stop or never rides in the recovery surface.

Not sure I understand what you mean.....the tongue of the trigger is not going fully above the bevel of the stop.....it's not at rest in the slot above the point of the bevel? When at rest, the tongue on the trigger should be in the "slot", just above the surface marked "recovery surface" in the drawing. If it's not in this location, the ball of the stop will not be pulled down properly when the trigger is pulled.

A951….you said it correctly….but yet I have function.

this gun was destined to be cut however the narcs needed a small revolver and I checked the motion and it could be used by the dept for LEO use.

it was very clean.

the tongue does not go into the slot. it stops short and rides on the top portion of the bevel.

Also the trigger was very hard to remove/reinstall…..like the frame pin OD and the trigger hole ID were very close to the same size.

I will take the gun apart again and make sure I installed it correctly.

I have function.

I wonder if the cylinder stop spring is in a bind and minimizing movement of the cyl stop.

just a guess.

Check the Cylinder stop spring and make sure it's not bent.

I have encountered a couple of CS's along the way that were just NOT fit correctly at the Factory and they needed to be properly fit. Took a few minutes with a file and an Arkansas Stone then all was well. One was on my friends Chief's M60 that he bought last summer but was an older 60-3 model. They must have installed the CS with a hammer because I sweated bullets getting it out without doing damage. Once out, it was easy to fit.

It may exhibit this "malfunction with the sideplate off....but function normally with the plate on.......not sure how it could unlock properly (pull the stop down) if the trigger tongue was not above the point of the stop at the start of the trigger pull.
