Recently converted an extra 4053 slide and barrel combination to fire 10mm. Chamber cut to 10mm specs, magazine spacer removed, installed new mag follower. 10mm slide/bbl uses the nested spring configuration....the smaller recoil guide and a Wolffe 21 lb recoil spring (#47721) and an OEM inner spring. (Running the .40 S&W caliber slide and barrel with the larger diameter recoil guide and a 21 lb Wolff spring) Range testing confirmed this 10mm recoil spring combination as heavy enough to compensate for the added recoil, and still allow the slide to open completely enough for the slide stop to engage.
Had to add some grip tape to the slide. With my old hands, I found it hard (impossible) to fully open the slide at times.
Recoil is quite manageable, no reliability issues so far. Just me I guess, but the accuracy from the 10mm was slightly better than with the .40 S&W barrel/slide assy.
