Default 3913 Slide Swap

(I did a search but was not able to find any information.)

My brother has a thing for 1911s. He has a lot of them in various configurations but the ones I really like have the Officers frame with a Commander slide and barrel. That got me wondering if a S&W M3913 could accept a longer slide and barrel? And if so, which one would be the easiest to fit?

I am very much a revolver guy so this is mostly an academic question to gain knowledge but the idea is intriguing to me and one I might pursue.

Thanks for any advice or thoughts.

Kevin

Check out "FrankenGun" and "FrankenSmith" threads.....

Can't answer your exact question but these are built and work......never tried a long slide on a 3913/14 frame.........But

My "FrankenSmith"; is a 6904 frame with a 4" slide/barrel from a 915........ vs. the 6904s original 3.5" barrel/slide/

As you explore...... remember there are two styles of slide rails......

early factory third generation guns

Later there is the heavier "box" rails....... they started in the PC, then were incorporated into the "Tactical" guns; finally (I think) became standard for all production guns
