Default trigger stop

Why don't more S&W guns have internal trigger stops ? i think it is a great way to stop the sudden movement of the gun when the trigger and sear(hammer ) dis engage in both single action and D.A.firing sequence . I know that some of the adjustable stops could move and cause a jammed trigger .I think this would be a much needed addition to any competition gun and a service weapon.

I just shot a Mdl 19 with the stop removed.

The extra trigger movement pushed the hand further upward and bound up on the rim of the fired round locking the trigger rearward, had to pry the trigger forward to reset.

This gun is getting the stop replaced.

Some swear by them and some swear at them! I have Revolvers both with and without them and quite honestly I do not feel or perceive any great difference. The revolvers I bought with them still have them installed and the ones that came without them I have not added one even though some have the threaded hole for them. Doesn't matter much to me one way or the other. I guess some shooters might be more sensitive than I.

Some LEO's used to remove them for fear the mounting screw would work loose and jam up the gun. I have never had that happen and doubt it was a common occurrence - although I can understand their concern.

I would guess that S&W stopped installing them as part of LEO reliability concerns and cost cutting issues as well.

The current N frame revolvers feature a small pin inside the spring on the rebound slide that is the "modern" trigger stop. I've heard that some of the Performance Shop L frames also come with this rod installed. Warning, install one of these backwards and they will cause the trigger to lock solidly when the revolver is held in certain positions. If youfind this issue just flip the rod end for end.

As for the need for a trigger stop I've never found they did anything for me. So, IMO they are simply a gimmick originally developed to boost sales.
