I'm planning on buying a revolver action wrench. Brownell's has their model, the MGW, and Ron Powers' version. Does anyone have a preference between the models? Thanks.
I feel bad when somebody asks a question and there are no responses at all. I can't help you since I do not own an Action Wrench and I would guess very few here do hence the reason for the lack of response. Sorry - wish I could help.
Sorry , no help here either, when things get to the point an action wrench is required for a repair, I take the gun in for professional gunsmithing help.
I just don't feel my gunsmith abilities are at the level to get into that territory.
No help either, Gary
I will give you my opinion and that is all it is. I have both Maryland Gunworks and Ron Power. As much as I like and try to support Ron Power because of all he has done for S&W gunsmiths over the years, the MGW is a really nice tool but pricey. Their inserts fit a bit better and wrench is lighter. If your doing a lot of barrel work, set backs etc then it will pay for itself but it's your call. The Brownells wrenches weigh as much as a good 3" vice but of course work just a bit crude.
I also have the Maryland Gun Works action wrench really like it.I bought it when I could actually afford it and I have used it to re barrel several Smith's and a Ruger old model single action. It has more than paid for itself in the past few years.
