Default rear sight plunger

I know, I know.... I should have put the revolver in a plastic trash bag when I pulled the windage screw but I didn't do it. The plunger and spring went airborne. I found the spring but the plunger is nowhere to be found.

Numrich is getting an order tomorrow.

I'm pissed.

Try going over the area with a magnet.....sometimes you snag them.

Tried that for about an hour and a half. In the dining room with all the baggage that fills the space. I'm such a dumbass.

well it is simple physics, go back to the spot that you were sitting, working on the gun, and look over to where you found the spring, and along that same line, continue as the plunger went even further.......when working on anything thathas small "sprig loaded" parts, do NOT have any music ,radio playing so when the parts take off, you can HEAR approximately where they hit, go there, and look DOWN.....
don't ask me how I know, it took over 45 years to learn this............yes, a large magnet certainly can help.............clutter and a messy floor do NOT make a good work shop

You're not the first , I usually find it about three days after the overpriced new one I bought shows up.
I have also learned that when ordering , go ahead and buy two or three, saves on postage....you know that rascal's going to take off again and you won't be able to find it.
Like the Scout's say...be prepared.

You can get them directly from S&W, and the postage is usually more than the part. Yes, I found out the same way.

Plunger came in last week. I installed it in a white plastic grocery bag. Didn't have a problem. But this time I was very slow and deliberate. I still need to take it to the range and adjust windage. I counted the number of turns to reset Zero but you know that never works out. It gets you n the ball park but that's it.
