Hey guys, I don't remember seeing any melonite finished revolvers...does anyone have one? what are the opinions on this process for revolvers? I have a H&K P7 that I had melonited about 5 years ago and it doesn't show any wear, my duty weapon is "Tenifer" and also shows minimal wear. I would think a carbon frame, barrel and cylinder would be about right, while leaving the small parts alone. What do you think?

Sorry I can't be much help here but I NEVER heard of a Melonite finish on guns. Quite honestly, I never heard of Tennifer either.

Tenifer is Glock's trademark finish product. The following is a Google cut and paste.
"Salt bath ferritic nitrocarburizing is also known as liquid ferritic nitrocarburizing or liquid nitrocarburizing and is also known by the trademarked names Tufftride and Tenifer. The most simple form of this process is encompassed by the trademarked Melonite process, also known as Meli 1."

Ferritic nitrocarburizing -- whatever trade name or method of application used -- is an excellent finish that for some reason hasn't caught on in the revolver world, but as mentioned is better known among semiauto shooters thanks largely to Glock; S&W uses it on their M&P slides.

I recall someone on the forum had their revolver melonited and it looked great. Only issue is you usually can't do any small parts because of the temperatures required. Post #4 has an example of a melonited Model 58:
