Default Rear sight spring and plunger

Ok, I admit it. I had to change the rear blade on my model 14 4 screw. After several attempts to get it all together I launched them. They are somewhere over by my bow rack under the javelina mount. I'm not going to look for them, too embarrassing. There has to be a trick to it. I mean that plunger just doesn't want to slide in as easily as it slid out, with gusto I might add. What's the trick or incantation?

Place the sight slide in a padded vise or fixture. (You can't hold the part and do what follows) Position the screw to the midway point in the sight slide, position the screw and slide into the sight base. Place the spring and plunger into the hole in the screw, then while holding slight inward pressure against the head of the screw with your thumb or finger, push the protruding plunger down with a small screwdriver blade or other small flat tool. The screw and slide assy containing the plunger will slip inside the sight body as soon as the plunger drops below the edge of the canopy. It can't pop out during the process if you continue to hold slight inward pressure on the outside of the screw as you push the plunger downward into the hole.

Do this with a clear plastic bag covering the operation. Any offending parts will stay in the bag if they decide to launch.

I do this a bit differently.

Screw the windage screw into the blade so the screw head is about flush with the end of the blade.

Put the spring and plunger into the hole in the windage screw.

While holding the spring/plunger in ( with your fingers) rotate the windage screw so the plunger is under the blade, trapping it.

Now slide the blade/screw/spring/plunger assy into the sight base and screw the nut on.

Thanks guys. I used Armorer951 technique, didn't work for me. My arthritic hands shake too much. My son however got it on his first try, only he used his thumb nail instead of a screw driver. Literally took him a couple seconds. Damn kids, glad I gottem!
