Default 351-PD working great with CCI ammo

wanted to provide an update that the trouble with my 351 PD .22 magnum was the ammunition. the two brands I was using would jam it. tried CCI and it works great. thanks for the advice on the forum. very pleased with this revolver now.

CCI is about the finest .22 rimfire ammo these days (actually has been for a long time) but I am a bit puzzled as to how your 351 was jamming. The specs for Federal, Winchester and Remington should be pretty darn close if not exact to that of the CCI (albeit maybe not quite as reliable). Please explain how they were jamming.

SAAMI specs are probably met by all ammo (except maybe sometimes the spec that the case be primed). However, not all revolvers are equal. For whatever reason, some S&W .22 revolvers have trouble letting go of the cases after they are fired. It seems to me that this happens less or not at all with CCI ammo. I believe that at one time, and perhaps still, CCI had heavier brass at the case mouth than other brands and that it expanded less on firing. I think that this is the reason why all CCI and anyone's CB work OK in the few problem S&W rimfire revolvers that I still have.

In my case, the case mouth expansion was causing very difficult extraction. Perhaps in the OP's case the stickiness was combined with the case's backing out of the chamber. Regardless, I do not regard it as at all uncommon for a S&W rimfire revolver to work with CCI ammo and no other, except CB and possibly match ammo.
