I was at the range yesterday and with the gun steadied on a pole at seven yards it was grouping about 1 1/2 inches right. Can adjusting the sight(s) on this be safely done with plain old household tools or do I need to purchase something special? Or, does it need to go to a gunsmith?
Brass will work fine but will leave a slight yellow color behind (on the sight) from the Brass. Most will come off though. You can also use a Nylon punch or simply put a piece of masking tape on the side of the rear sight before drifting.
HINT: mark the top of the slide right in front of the sight with a pencil line or a piece of masking tape for reference as to how far you are drifting the sight and to verify that in fact it is moving.
Thanks for the replies. I was asking because I've read of some sights being so tight one can damage the slide without proper tools. I'll clamp it down and give it a try.
