Default Current Target Stocks?

Hey all! Hopefully this is the right department to put this question in.

I am looking to enhance my Model 64 with some nice target grips. I was looking at the used ones, most with some wear to them, on ebay and they are going for about $80. Ones in like-new shape are well over $100.

So I figured I'd see if S&W still sold new target grips and they do:

Product: K & L Square Butt Traditional Checkered Target Grip With The S&W Medallions

They cost $82 and look good. Does anyone have any reports on the quality of these current grips? Are they using diamondwood now or real wood? These looks like real wood to me but amn't so sure.

Can anyone give some feedback on the CURRENTLY MADE Smith & Wesson factory target stocks? Thanks!

-Jay

They don't show the width in the pic. If they altimonts I'd run away......Far away. Altimonts are too long on the bottom and way to thin on the top. You could call and ask. Or to really be satisfied bite the bullet and buy an old OEM Smith grip. My $0.02.

Oh...

They do look nice, though.

Unless you specifically want Factory grips you might take a look at Culina grips. They make a very nice target grip for S&W that has the factory target look but is much better proportioned. Nicer wood too.

I'll go with that statement too, except for 2 problems. First, they are not cheap, but then the craftsmanship is fully worth it in my opinion. And second, they look and feel so good you will want to put them on all your S&W revolvers, which really runs the stock bill way up!

BTW, I have a set of target N square butt Culina stocks on order right now, which will make my third set of their stocks. John and Jennifer are also active members of these forums too.

Default Yet Another Suggestion

You can go to the "Eagle Grips" site on the internet, you will see what I think is a very good looking "Target Grip" for each S&W Frame size. The "Herritage" series seems close to the originals in appearance, take a look, if you are not impressed you have lost nothing but increased your choices in the process.

A model 64 looks and shoots good with magnas and a Tyler T grip.
