Well, this is not a perfect solution to the problem, but Numrich and Midway have the blued front sight pins in stock. Ends of the pin could be polished to resemble the original.

You can do an even better job with a section of stainless steel drill rod.
Just round the ends if the original is rounded and polish bright.

However, a standard drill bit shank polished will work just great.

I agree with dfariswheel.

I'm guessing the reason your sight fell off is because the pin's hole was too loose. If so a replacement pin might not fit any tighter.

A 1/16" drill bit (.0625") is the smallest commonly found & is just a tad larger than the factory pin. Use that drill bit to make a tight new clean hole then cut the shank off, to length, for the sight pin. Job done.

Use a standard pin. If the hole is too loose, put a nice little dent towards the right end of the pin and drive it in from right to left. It won't come out and won't be too hard to remove if needed by driving it out from left to right.

Buy a stainless steel "Locking Bolt pin" from S&W or wherever. Often they are the same length as the front sight pin and they are the correct diameter. If you want/need the currently used .055" roll-pin you will have to wait on S&W. A bit of blue Loc-Tite on the new pin is a better alternative to denting or flattening the new pin.

got a .055" drill bit, finished to length and put it in, actually measured .0545"...pushed right thru hole, slight friction, not tight.....will wait for S&W pins, doubt they'll work either....next step will be drill to 1/16" .0625" and split pin.....hope that works......
