I have a Model 4046 TSW and have experienced some difficulty actuating the magazine release button. It requires pronounced effort to release a magazine on the 4046 whereas it is much easier to do so on my 5906 & 5946 pistols. I experience the same condition no matter which of the five magazines I use on the 4046.

Is there any adjustment to the magazine release button on this series of S & W pistol? I have tried searching this forum as well as a "google" search but have been unable to find this matter addressed.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, there is a small range of adjustment you can make on it.

Push down on the mag catch nut's plunger (red arrow in pic below), with a small punch, enough to release it from the notch on the bottom of the mag catch nut.

With a very fine flat tip screw driver you can turn the nut CW or CCW, while holding the plunger down.

IIRC, turning the nut CCW will adjust it so it releases sooner by making less of the catch engage the notch in the magazine.

Do a little at a time. The plunger has to end up in the nut's notch each adjustment to be properly held in place.

Don't turn it too far CCW or the nut will come off the threads, which is how you disassemble it.

If you bunch up a small rag & put it under the opposite (right) side of the grip & mag release catch, it'll be easier to make the nut's adjustment.
