I’m in need of some guidance on this to blend in scratches on the side plate having difficulty removing then, the ready of the gun looks good. Using scotch brite pads Thanks to all who read my post

The key word is gently. Get the fine grey grade of Scotch Brite and very gently rub with the grain. If they are deep scratches, this won’t remove them, but it may minimize how noticeable they are.

I used increasingly fine grit sandpaper and oil to remove an engraved rack number from the left side of the frame on a S&W 67-1 I got cheap. It took about 3 hours of work but you can't see where the engraving was and there's no dishing to the frame as I used a small sanding pad backer. I started with around 400 grit and finished with 800. I believe if I had gone to 1000 or finer it would have been too high a polish and not matched the rest of the revolver. Use oil and go slow. Scratches should be pretty easy- just be careful.
