Model of 1905 hammer issue question
Hello all,
I had a reblued frame/cylinder/barrel assembly around that had NO internal parts installed. I managed to cobble together enough parts to put her back together. The ejctor rod is a much later production, but will work until I get a correct one.
My issue is, when I cock the hammer single action all seems to go well but when I pull the trigger double action the back edge of the hammer is hitting the frame and hanging up preventing it from going back to battery.
The bolt release is not an issue, but I may have some slop on the pin that the hammer pivots on.
Unfortunately I do not have another hammer to try and was wondering what I might be able to do to fix the problem with what I have??

UPDATE: I think I figured out the issue....the hammer has an issue, the hole that slides over the stud is oversized from wear......now to find a replacement.

I have a hunch that the old style long action hammer has a smaller pivot hole than later hammers. If your hammer is sloppy on the stud, is it possible that it’s the wrong hammer, and not a hammer for a long action?

I have a spare hammer like yours and the pivot hole measures .140" diameter. What size is yours? My hammer isn't as nice as yours but you are welcomed to it.

Thanks Mike,
I just measured the hammer stud which measures right a or just a hair under .140" and the pivot hole on the hammer measures just over .1405"
It almost looks that the pivot hole on the hammer may be slightly oval from wear.....Maybe I should try your hammer!!
I suppose the hammer stud could be worn, but it looks good to the eye.

Wanted to thank Mike for offering up his spare hammer....I received it today and the install did the trick!! Both single and double action work flawlessly on this now. The old hammer pivot hole was badly worn!
