I assume this is for a "worst case" situation, so....

Answer to:

2. Yes excluding the ejector star.
3. Stock springs, alter them yourself if necessary(they're cheap, buy several).

And 1. Every screw, rear sight blade, internal cylinder parts, hammer, trigger, all action parts excluding the rebound slide. I've not damaged a front sight but on the newer 686's with the pinned blade you might as well get one of those too.

The tools to do the work will also prove valuable, particularly the rear sight blade installation tools from Smith. NONE of the parts is particularly prone to break but over thousands of rounds they do wear and of course accidents like dropped guns do happen. I have never needed cylinder parts(rods, collars, stars, springs) but it is possible to bend a rod so I included the cylinder internals for that reason. Buy your parts from Smith & Wesson and you don't have to worry about getting the right ones. I've got one of the first of Jerry K's books and think I might try one of Jerry M's videos instead.
