I've recently bought my first ever nickel plated gun, a Model 19-5. I used to think plated guns looked gaudy and cheap, but I've fallen in love with this beauty!
I've given it one good polish with MAAS and it shines like a new penny. The package instructions for the polish warns not to use on thinly plated metals. I apparently got away with it on one application, but wonder what would happen to the finish with repeated applications? Has anyone polished through the plating on a Smith?

No, but if you polish enough with an abrasive polish, it is bound to happen! I use the Selvyt polishing cloths - the ones that are not impregnated with polishing compound - and they leave nickel guns sparkling and will not damage the finish no matter how often you polish.
Be carefull & gentle. I had a Nickel Series 80 Government. It was a show piece. I rubbed too hard with the wrong cloth and wrong polished. Left a mark that made me sick.
