I voted Starline, and Starline is what I buy usually when I buy brass. But, for lighter loadings, and factory level .45 Colt loading, I really like Winchester cases. They seem to expand and seal a little better than Starline and I have a tremendous amount of loads on my Winchester cases over...

I have found it to be quite useful, for the sheer number of loads available. All published load data, from any source, is a guideline, unless you are using the exact components listed. Even then, they weren't using YOUR gun. :cool:

I have also worn the nickel plumb off of many cases in .357 during the last many years. As noted by others here, carbide and a little case lube work very well and you don't have to do every case. It's surprising how many folks think nickle is no good for hand loading. I'll take any nickle...

Yeah, taper crimp to .469-.471 at the case mouth, then plunk test.

I would back off the crimping entirely, and polish the exp. ball down to .221-.222. I don't use any crimp for my AR15 or my M1a for general use ammo, and I would just use a kiss of roll crimp for "battle" ammo, and for that I buy battlepacks of good "surplus". Of course this assumes the bullet...

It has the best chance in the 55, that said, I have never used it because it had the same rep. 40 years ago as it does today, as far as poor metering. It does work well in .45acp and .45 Colt according to some of the range rats I shoot with.

Check the size of your expander ball. Wrong bullet or defective die? Wrong exp. ball? The Size die and exp. ball controls neck tension fit, not the seat/crimp die. Are you bumping the shoulder back a little?
