I had occasion to examine a 642-1 at my LGS last week. This gun has the Performance Center Enhanced Action-no lock. This seems to be the perfect carry gun. Anyone own one of these?

Same problem here. I took a Harbor Freight LED magnetic mount flashlight and stuck it on the safe door. One beam points directly down on the dial. Never had that problem again. Cost is nothing because HF gives them away with a purchase and coupon.

Carrying your own ammo is a great idea unless it is confiscated, lost stolen etc. I carry my own ammo too, but what is your backup plan if you suffer one of the aforementioned mishaps? I prefer to have a carry gun in a universally available caliber. Just in case.

There are a number of J-Frame variations from the Performance Center that are cut for moon clips. My only experience with moon clips is in the old New Service revolvers. Do these skus require the use of moon clips or can they be used without them.
