Bought a 686 Plus PC 5" have some questions.

I get it but I wasted my time trying to get S&W make it right before. Not worth the effort, im going to get the same line. Not my first S&W purchase either and I am particular about my revolvers. So I already budgeted for sending it off to a smith as soon as I bought the darn thing regardless...

Bought a 686 Plus PC 5" have some questions.

Bought it new, did not return it to the store. I will pay to have a strange man fill my hole. No wait this sounds wrong. I will have a gunsmith plug the lock hole, add CNC trigger hammer and slide and replace the springs, chamfer the extractor and cylinder and have the chambers honed. I dont...

Bought a 686 Plus PC 5" have some questions.

They have good QC people and CS people. This is a publicly traded company. It is run like one. I want to make my bonuses so I make the floor people push out revolvers no matter what, issue with QC? I have a contract to deliver X amount of units by Y date, push them out. Consistent complaints...

Bought a 686 Plus PC 5" have some questions.

I sent my previous S&W twice in for serious and obvious mechanical problem and both times they said that it was "within spec". They dont give a hoot and its a waste trying to get them to fix it. Honestly for the amount of money it takes to fix their **** I am surprised we dont have a domestic...

    Mystery Light Primer Strikes

Yes thats the one thank you folks. So if that sear is too short it makes the hammer slip off completley and fall too soon?

    Mystery Light Primer Strikes

is 14-1 hammer different from a modern N frame? You folks mention the DA sear? In my hammer you have a little moving "sear"? I think that I push on as I start pulling the trigger but in the end there is a part of the hammer and a part of the trigger that get engaged that is not that DA sear or...

Bought a 686 Plus PC 5" have some questions.

I bought it online and had it shipped to my state. Because I live in the Soviet Union err I mean the Peoples Empire of New York State it is a huge pain in the butt for me to ship it back. Honestly I pretty much send all my revolvers to an actual smith to get sorted. Last one had misaligned...

    S&W 686....Colt Python

I would say its closer to a ford vs chevy vs honda accord. Ruger revolvers may be mediocre compared to S&W (and DA trigger pulls sub par) and Colt but their quality is very consistent and quite decent compared to S&W.

    S&W 686....Colt Python

You can get them for 1000. OP do you mainly shoot DA or SA? How much do you shoot? Do you mind working on your own gun or spending money to send it to a gunsmith?

Bought a 686 Plus PC 5" have some questions.

Last time I went to S&W for an obvious problem they told me to go pound sand. Its going to a gun smith any way. I am disappointed but not surprised. Going to need to chamfer and polish the cylinder any way, CNC trigger, CNC hammer etc. Well EDM cut parts but we all adults here and know what I mean.

Bought a 686 Plus PC 5" have some questions.

I tried using my range rod with the 357 match attachment and it did not want to go down that barrel

What's involved in becoming an S&W armorer?

For S&W factory? That depends. Are you good at looking at utter basket cases and saying "looks within spec to me"? You can now work for S&W.

Bought a 686 Plus PC 5" have some questions.

I did not, it was a lady and I asked to talk to some one who can get in touch with QC dept. She politely told me no.

Bought a 686 Plus PC 5" have some questions.

I bought a 686 plus #11760. Picked it up at the store got it home and started to inspect it. Only 2 of the 7 of the 7 chambers would let me chamber a bullet. Whole revolver was covered with small slightly smaller than sand metal shavings. Chambers, barrel, inside the action. I cocked the hammer...

629 hammer strength DA vs SA

easy for you to say! I would rather not be accosted by a scantron pop quiz any time soon :)

629 hammer strength DA vs SA

Hey folks I was checking the force of the hammer on the firing pin by using the pencil trick. In DA mode pencil made it halfway out of the barrel. In SA mode it popped right out completely. Is this normal?
