    DO NOT ASK sign

My mountain cabin and family refuge is 100 miles from the house. We go there often, but we don't live there all the time. The bastard 4 wheelers are all local people, and thus are there every day. I am afraid to cause a ruckus because they could do a lot of damage to the cabin and my trail...

    DO NOT ASK sign

Dad had almost no vacation time. Thus, no time to do scouting, and I didn't have a car. So, the first Saturday of deer season we would drive in darkness to a spot where he used to hunt before the war. Sometimes we got to hunt. Other times we drove around looking for a spot with no posted...

    Knuckle Buster

A Knuckle Buster is Ole Evinrude's 1909 Rowboat Motor. The flywheel needed to have a rope wound around it to start it and often it kicked back, hence wrapping your knuckles.

Reloading a Winchester Model 1873 chambered in 357/38

I don't have an 1873, but I DO have a Winchester 94 Trapper. I shoot 158 gr. SWCs over W231. I used to use a book load (forgot where I got it) for rifles. Then, once I didn't have any loaded so I used a box of rounds loaded for my revolvers. It worked fine. Now I use one formula for everything.

    RCBS RockChucker -- the Agony

Some talk about dillons, and others talk about a progressive press. For me, neither is practical. I load 26 different calibers, and for some I use several different types of Boolits. Thus, I have to adjust the dies every single time. My setup now includes 4 Lee single stage presses, plus a...

    RCBS RockChucker -- the Agony

As a college kid with a delivery boy job and living with my parents I used the whack-a-mole for years and years. I loaded literally thousands of rounds. If I had known about Dillons back then I probably would not have bought another gun because of the cost of ammo. Even a single stage didn't...

    RCBS RockChucker -- the Agony

Since 1971 I have loaded tens of thousands of rounds on a single state Lee press. Yes, it's still the same one. On average I load a few thousand a year. I buy once fired brass and have quite an inventory. I used to save up the empties and have a marathon reloading session in the Winter on...

    Picked this one up today

Nickle, re-nickle, right stocks, wrong stocks, whatever. If I had seen it I would have paid double the price.

I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

As an ROTC cadet I had a crush on a girlie in my class. When she saw me in my uniform she blew me away. Later I found another. Just before I began my military career I dated a girlie that was cute, but seemed a bit deranged. She DID go to Woodstock and wallowed in the mud, which I thought...

I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

I agree with you 100%. Plus, I have said that before, even in this thread. The only deadbeat youngins I have encountered came from single parent families, or got sidetracked by irresponsible friends. The percentage is small. I won't denigrate gen x y z or q, as long as they don't denigrate...

I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

OK, I'm back from camp. Boy that old pre 27 8 and 3/8 incher sure is a joy to behold. Also, after only a year with a 5.56 AR, I'm a confirmed shooter. Dead horse for sure. So, stop beating it. Your comments have been repeated several times now. We DO get it. No need to repeat it any more.

I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

Maybe you don't want to know. It might it might make you feel bad about today's society. In the city near my town, the current tiktok challenge is to steal cars and then post pictures of your trophy. The one with the most stolen vehicles before they got caught wins. Harmless, right? Tell...

I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

I absolutely DO understand your comments. For sure, the kiddies today resent the old folks. It is YOU that don't understand MY position. I will not accept a personal classification based on the fact that I was born in 1949. I did not cause the problems that we have today. As a matter of...

I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

Sounds like a broken record. As a boomer yourself, then you must share the blame. Why didn't YOU stop the waste? I tried, but my vote was canceled by others that voted the other way. All I can say is that maybe YOU caused the waste, by I did not. As the starter of this thread, it was not my...

I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

Boomers are classified as anyone born between a particular time span. Among those include good and bad people, smart and dump people, and a variety that range from First Responders to Murderers. We are all different. That's why I object to a classification based on a dubious criteria. So...

I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

It's the "under our watch" statement that has me confused. Some of us worked hard, payed our taxes, did NOT overspend and raised a respectable family. We volunteered where we could do good, and contributed to worthwhile charities. We voted for politicians that "talked" good and also seemed to...

I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

My first Shooting Club was in 1970. After marriage and moving I joined a club closer to my house. My old club was overrun by houses. All the ranges had to be closed. Now, only a small indoor range is left. I have been a member at my current club for 48 years now. The neighborhood is not...

I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

The term itself is not offensive. What is offensive are the negative comments that the youngins direct at us. My parents and grandparents not only lived thru the depression in the USA, but also thru the devastation of WWI in Europe.
