The shield 45 is a great CCW, but not for me.

To compare a 9mm shooting 124 or 115 grain bullets to a 45 a.c.p. shooting 230 grain bullets isn't anywhere near apples to apples. Try the Barnes 160 grain +P all copper bullet loads to whatever you are shooting from your 9 and get back with us. I expect you will realize there is little...

    Bought a 45 Shield

You guys really should try loads using the Barnes TAC-XP 160 grain +P bullets. They are fast and very low recoil. I expect I can probably shoot my 45 Shield with these bullets faster than you could shoot a .40 S&W Shield. The recoil is more pleasant and with the short cycle these pistols...

    M&P Shield 45 Recoil?

I have shot 200 grain SWCs for practice through my 45 Shield. The other night right at dark I fired 5 rounds of +P 160 grain Barnes at a Copperhead. It was very pleasant to shoot. It felt better than some 9s I have shot with +P 124 grain. The 45 Shield with these 160 grain all copper bullets...

Which self-defense ammo is best in the short barrel Shield 45 ?

I carry +P 160 Grain Barnes TAC-XP bullets in mine. Good performer, light recoil and flat shooting.

    Optical Sight on Shield

Actually you should be able to hit center of mass reliably at 25 yards if you put in a bit of practice. You probably won't consistently hit golf balls at 25 yards but you will be able to do more than adequate self defense work with it. Especially with the 45 Shield

Interest in extra capacity, lifetime magazine springs?

Actually I have converted all my 1911s to flat wire recoil springs. My Sig 938 also has them. I would be interested in a flat wire mag spring. I once had a boss who had a full auto Mac10 that wouldn't function properly I got him a new mag spring and it worked fine. Mag springs do fail. They...

At my local gun shop today....

Actually Arkansas and Alabama have recently gotten firearms manufacturing plants. Barrett is here in Tennessee. This state is very firearm friendly. All of these firearm manufacturing plants should move out of states which aren't firearm friendly.

    45 shield compatibility

On mine I left the stock trigger in place. I removed the sear and polished it in two different places, polished the firing pin block and polished the striker. These things yielded a measured 4 1/2# trigger pull with absolutely no creep or overtravel. In time I will put night sights on it. I...

At my local gun shop today....

they were talking about a new ruling from the Attorney General of Mass. It redefined the meaning of assault weapon to include all semi-automatic weapons. She banned all of them in that state. Considering this ruling S&W should move out of that state and relocate in a state which is a bit more...

    Shield .45

As I have mentioned before the trigger pull on the new 45 Shield is better than the 9 Shield I previously had. I have reworked the sear in my new 45 Shield and also polished the striker and firing pin block in mine. I had the trigger pull weight checked on a scale today and it is now 4 1/2#...

    Shield 45 mags

My mags started out hard to load, but I got all of the rounds in and now after several days they are getting better. I am loading mine with my old fingers.:)

    Shield 45 in the house

Have you considered that he really doesn't care whether you believe it has happened or not?:) It is his right not to post pictures, just as I suppose it is your right to complain. This is America, where freedom of speech still stands for something. Exactly what, depends on who you ask.:)

I picked up my S&W Shield in 45acp.

No going out in the Gulf and catching Amberjack and Grouper or Speckled Trout or Redfish either. I'd way rather live in Florida than South Dakota. Then again that's why they make Dodge trucks too. They're for folks who don't know any better.

    Shield 45 in the house

I can't speak for others but I dry fire all my weapons when new and if the trigger pull doesn't suit me I go to work and make it where it does. I won't waste ammo until the trigger is right. Then I carry it to the range and shoot it. I absolutely detest excessive overtravel as it makes it...

    Shield .45

I'm a little confused. The falso reset that was spoken of in the review, doesn't happen in mine at all. I tried again and again to make mine do it and it won't. I will admit that I reworked the sear in mine before I ever shot it though. I did dry fire it before I did the work but was really...

I picked up my S&W Shield in 45acp.

They say that when people retire they try to better themselves. Who ever heard of anybody retiring to the north? They always retire to the south where we have a more gun friendly society. My carry permit is honored all over the southeast U.S. Just a little food for thought. I won't live in...

    Shield .45

The springs in both my mags are very strong. In fact it is a real task to get the last few rounds in the mag. It almost seems like the springs might be hanging up a bit. I will give time for the springs to set and shoot it more before I proclaim there is a problem.:)

I picked up my S&W Shield in 45acp.

I just returned from the local gun shop where I bought the Shield. I asked the owner if he had dry fired it before I picked it up to see what the trigger felt like. He said he had and he had compared it to the various 9mm and 40 S&W Shields he had in the showcase. He said it had a better...

    Shield .45

I paid $419.95 for mine. It was received by my LGS late Tuesday and logged in. Supposedly someone had their name on it. He didn't return texts from shop owner so it was mine next morning. I am very pleased with it. Worked sear carefully with file and stone last night and it is very good...
