I picked up my S&W Shield in 45acp.

I also am a 1911 guy and got the only 45 Shield in my LGS and it had the safety. Actually I think the safety feels better than the one on the 9mm Shield I used to have. I followed the instructions given by Burwell on improving the trigger. Now the overtravel has been reduced and the trigger...

I picked up my S&W Shield in 45acp.

I just picked one up at my LGS today also. It is larger than my Sig 938 but smaller than my Sig 239. I suspect I will pocket carry mine in denim cargo shorts. It is in my pocket at present in a Remora holster. I am going to carry .45 acp +P with Barnes 160 grain all copper bullet. The...

    Loving my Shield

If you really like your stock 9mm Shield then go to burwellguns.com and learn to improve the sear on your Shield. By simply carefully doing a little work on the sear, I shortened trigger travel, reset and trigger weight. I liked my Shield before. Now I love it.

    Now what with Shield 40

Lots of things could have happened here. The case might have been reloaded to many times. The .40S&W round is somewhat marginal anyway. When Glock first came out with this caliber they removed too much material from the chamber when cutting the feed ramp and some Glocks experienced what you...

    Shield 40

For those who absolutely must fire these pistols fast, I suppose Mag-Na-Port might be the answer.

    California Shields

If they would run the movie stars and other assorted liberals out, California might be a good place to live. You would somehow have to pay off the huge debt load and do away with some of the environmental rules which have run industry out though for it to ever be a decent place to live.:D

    Last Glock leaves this Saturday

I'm not a fanboy but if I like one brand better than another, then I will own pistols of that brand not the other. I prefer continuity in the way my guns feel and handle. Continuity in the spare parts department to support a group of weapons also makes good sense. I have owned and worked on...

M&P SHIELD 0.40 CALIBER MAGAZINE DROP PROBLEM POLL

Actually I haven't experienced mag drop. I was simply pointing out that the mags fit poorly. I doubt seriously that 1 in 3 have problems. I spoke with Joe at S&W CS yesterday and suggested to him it might be partially if not fully caused by poor mag fit. He listened but I came away feeling...

M&P SHIELD 0.40 CALIBER MAGAZINE DROP PROBLEM POLL

I don't believe the problem is really in the pistol. I believe it is in the magazine. The magazine has way to much play in it, vertically and simply poor fit. The outside dimensions of the magazines are simply undersized by too much relative to the size of the magazine well. To truly fix...

    Used Shield

Someone is forgetting that you can also register these guns online with S&W. If it has already been registered and he sends in the card, S&W might prove to be difficult to deal with in the future for him if they think he has already tried to "pull the wool over their eyes". If he needs mercy...

What do you think S&W should have included with the Shield?

With or without the "manual safety".

    New Holster Arrived Yesterday

I've ordered a Silent Thunder in Coyote Brown. Sure hope I like it.

What do you think S&W should have included with the Shield?

Since it doesn't matter regarding the thickness, why not simply carry the 9C instead and gain more rounds and .4 inch longer sighting plane. Bt the way, my body can't feel the difference either. It's the micrometer that shows it.:D

    Used Shield

I only paid $409 for a new Shield. S&W can refuse to provide warranty service to you as the second owner should the need arise. I believe I would buy a new one.

What do you think S&W should have included with the Shield?

I'll be 70 in October so I suspect I have been carrying far longer than you have. That said when a sweat shield is added to the equation and the manual safety protrudes .2 inch off the frame of the gun, how does that not add to the overall thickness of the carry package. Unless things have...

What do you think S&W should have included with the Shield?

So they changed the rules? High quality materials don't cost more! That's the best news I've heard all day!!!

    Good News, Good News........

Considering that your carry method of choice is in your pocket, I'm sure you have made the right choice for you. I prefer a Kydex IWB so the issue of snagging sights is not on my plate. I'm 5 ft. 9 in. and about 180# so discreet pocket carry is sort of out of the question for me. I used to...

    Good News, Good News........

I agree with you entirely. The XS Big Dot is better than the stock 3 dot sights which come on the pistol. However I believe the Ameriglo I-Dot Pro is even better. Not only does it have tritium on the front sight, it also has a single tritium dot on the rear and a large U shaped notch. I...

    Good News, Good News........

There are many arguements people give against Condition #3 The most prevalent is that with the various safety devices on our guns today condition #3 has no place. There are 3 drills that I could suggest if they are that sure of the protection those safetys provide, #1 make sure your chamber...

    Good News, Good News........

Actually I was originally following the same train of thought. Then I researched further and found that they aren't very good sights at all for much beyond 10 yards. When the rear for the I-Dot Pro becomes available I will get one. It has an oversize U-Notch which allows considerable daylight...
