The cardboard box is fine and should be expected at this price point. I do wish Nite sights had been offered as an option. The ambi safety or bigger safety would have made the gun thicker and taken away part of it's appeal. If they made it thicker I would have just gone on with my 9C.

Actually later in the day I took care of the problem permanently. I ordered a set of XS Big Dot sights for it. I don't believe the tritium vial will jump out of that front sight.:D

I had a Remora for a Sig P238. Got rid of the Sig and got the 40 Shield. It was a very tight fit in the Remora, so I began stretching it a little at a time and now it fits like a glove.:D

So I called S&W customer service and told them about the dot coming off of my front sight. I was told I'll have one in the mail for you today. You can't ask for better customer service than that unless he had told me I'll have one in the mail for you yesterday.:D

If the OP doesn't have enough mechanical know how to study an M&P and figure these things out, he will never be a competent gunsmith. This guy needs to work on "water pistols".
