    The 4566TSWSSV project

Nice to see the hole erasing project turned out so well. Understand the trepidation of taking on a frame fix like this, but ya done good! Bet you could start a sideline business doing nothing but rail deletes on 3rd gens. Time to hang that shingle and make Mama's investment in a new bench pay...

    S&W 4048?

My guess would be a typo too. Had to laugh, reminds me of Cabellas having a 457S (the stainless 457) listed for sale as a 4578.

    S&W 4006 Tactical .40 - Price Check

Unless I'm not seeing it correctly, it looks like the rail was simply removed and the two rivet holes that were are used to hold the rail on still remain. Despite the lessened scarcity that would imply, the gun is still a great platform for shooting .40S&W.

    Good tip, DWalt!

Used Gen 3's at a bargain

^^^ Ha! That is some kind of service! I would have probably made the same sort of polite request. Is it really that hard to do? I don't think so and have taken plenty of pics of guns I'm selling (some in the same price range), because photos can often be very helpful. CDNN often has the same...

    Holster help

Another thought: try looking on eBay for a Safariland paddle holster. I did that search and came up with a fair number of reasonably priced options. I used to have one with the more triangular shaped paddle that worked well even with a heavy 3rd gen S&W 45. Might be worth checking out.

Not for everyone but I like 'em...

Funny how subjective the appeal of 'different' is. I don't like the angled dust cover because it is looks so different, but yet I find the gray plastic grips appealing for exactly that reason.

    PDFs of older S&W Catalogs?

We seem to be having a lot of 'necro posting' of late here. I have to say, "just Google it", is more than a bit strange in the context of dredging up a several year old post. Is the MrTrolleyguy screen name telling us this is a TROLL poster, or is that just a humorous coincidence? A helpful...

Used Gen 3's at a bargain

^^^ I appreciate the feedback you offered here. I am curious about the import markings on these pistols. Any chance you might be able to post a few photos? It is a little disappointing to read about the shrugged off response to your complaints about the quality on your 5903. I understand the...

    Holster help

It's been a long time since I've owned a paddle holster, but one of the ones I recall liking more than most was from Kramer Leather. Not cheap, but well made and it will assure that drawing your gun the won't unseat the holster. They indicate four different SW1911s in their fitment chart...

Not for everyone but I like 'em...

Not everyone that isn't a 3913 LS fan is put off by the word "lady" being etched on their firearm. For me, it is the aesthetic of the angled dustcover that never looked right to me, whether it is a NL or LS variant. I would rather have the lines be similar to my other 3rd gens. Purely a personal...

    NC Highway Patrol "ditching" M&P357?

The very latest M&P LE pistols demonstrate that S&W continues to listen to end users and actively works on improving their products. I think most officers would be very well served with one in a duty holster. Whether one manufacturer builds a better product than another is rarely the sole...

    4026 vs. 5906

The custom holsters I have for my 3rd gen frame decockers are mostly all from Milt Sparks. The maker detail molds and bones his holsters and you can clearly see they use a dummy (blue) gun that was model specific as the outline of the decocker tip is plainly visible. The decocker tip is a small...

Will you sell your ivory grips before the ban?

I hadn't given the issue much thought, but your post prompted me to look for more related info. I found a page with relevant links covering both current and proposed regulations, along with pointer toward advocacy groups. The info is locate on a reputable ivory dealer's web site. I've bought...

Opinions Wanted - Best SW Concealed Carry 45 acp

The important thing to look at is what prices the gun actually sold for. Most of the bidding comes in the last 30 minutes of the auction. Sometimes you can get lucky and find an overlooked auction or one that closes at an inconvenient time, but make no mistake, you aren't the only one on GB that...

Opinions Wanted - Best SW Concealed Carry 45 acp

The 4516 weights 34 ounces and the 4513 is 27 ounces, both with no magazine inserted. Those 7 ounces do make a difference. Like a lightweight Commander, the lighter gun is better appreciated the longer you have to tote it around. Everything is relative. After wearing a full size 40 ounce...

Opinions Wanted - Best SW Concealed Carry 45 acp

^^^ Easier said than done. Even if you have the extra funds to pay the required premium for one, you rarely ever see them come up for sale. Next best bet is still a 4513 TSW or plain Jane 4513 (or 4516 if the weight difference isn't an issue for you). Both the CS45 and 457 have seen price...

MP L/E guns the same as ?????

I'm not doubting what you say, but I can recall similar claims of extra QC (even separate production area) for the Remington 870 Police shotguns, and some saying this was more manufacturer puffery than truth. Can you please elaborate on what exactly is done when the LE guns "undergo QC steps...

MP L/E guns the same as ?????

I don't know either way, but it may be that an LE gun just sees the next engineering changes first (along with cheaper price, extra mags and NS). Grant of G&R Tactical (also a member here) recently posted a thread elsewhere with a photo of the latest & greatest new LE FS9 M&P with its PVD finish...

    Model 645 Value???

This thread got me curious so I looked at closed auctions for 645s. There were quite a number of really clean ones that traded hands for somewhere in the $450-550 range. Some went a bit cheaper and some a little higher, but I think if someone is patient you can buy in that price range. We like...
