    Early 629’s

Very nice I don’t shoot the pre endurance guns at all, nowadays except occasionally the mountain revolver But I do still very much enjoy owning them

Finally a dash five 629, last of the pre locks

Very nice I think there’s a few of us on here that would agree with you. I’ve personally been shooting the mim guns since 2003 or so and haven’t had any issues. Very accurate and durable.

    629-5 Classic 8 3/8” barrel question

That’s a sweetheart!!! Congratulations I think you’ll find the dash 5 guns to be a short 3 year run. I’ve only seen a few in the wild and just posted one up myself. Someone with the book may stop in and nail it down. You have a very nice desirable gun made right before the lock appeared. Smith...

Finally a dash five 629, last of the pre locks

One of the harder guns to find, at least around here Not sure how long they were made but I believe one of shorter runs I have only seen a few in the wild, this being the second one I’ve owned, sadly letting the first one get away Just wanted to share a picture and curious to know how many...

    Mastering the 44

I’d say your doing fine and it’s great to see another 44 guy on here!!! Have you tried any other grips, I really love wood stocks but shoot more consistently with the older factory rubbers that your gun may have come with Curious about your mid range load, care to share it ? chris

    Shaking hands with the devil

Wow That’s horrifying The only issues I’ve had were some frame flex because the cylinder would bump the frame right in front of the notch’s but only with max loads and the blast shield of course. All of mine were in the “C” prefix, I’m guessing first one might have been around 2011ish How old...

Anyone tried the rimrock 260 gr “Keith” style in 44 magnum

Looking for experience and opinions on the 260 gr flat base, Keith style from Rimrock. I’ve been shooting the rcbs250k for a long time and need to lay in a supply. The rcbs bullet has worked well for me in both mid range and full bore loads and remains stable and accurate at longer ranges. I...

    Shaking hands with the devil

You should snag one if get a chance They usually have a few at the post 240 at 1150 is fine when needed but to much for a general use load at least in my old hands I don’t shoot them often just enough to stay consistent Current production 629’s live in my range bag and get shot has much as time...

    Shaking hands with the devil

Not at all, always enjoy your posts and was hoping you’d chime in. Please just don’t put up any target pics, yours make mine seem like I’m shooting with my eyes closed Lol Love the photo of the old simply rugged rig, I ran the same set up for a while but find the rig from el passo to be much...

    Shaking hands with the devil

Nice looking guns Like the way you have them set up I’ve got a fair number of rounds through the 329’s with eagle secret service boot grips, that’s how I originally carried them. To be totally honest, that’s probably why number one didn’t stay here long. I’m also pretty smitten with the 317’s...

    Shaking hands with the devil

They’re not hard to find, at least around here I got my first after reading an article in Handloader If you get chance to handle one, you’ll be surprised how lite they are.

    Shaking hands with the devil

With the news and reality of the new no lock guns. Thank you Smith & Wesson! For some reason, I got it in my head that rather the revamp the current line up, that maybe they’d discontinue some of the less popular models. I’m a big fan of the 329’s, they are my favorite using 44’s. They are a...

Pawnshopping and this S&W 629-4 5 inch "Classic" was sitting there..

Nice snag, congratulations! I’m sure you know the flash chromed hammer and trigger generally ended with the -3’s. As a matter of fact that’s the only reason I favor the -3’s. I’m wondering if there’s a way to clean them up without removing any of the colors the ch controls are known for? I like...
