OK, mine has been re-nickled, good job but probably buffed off during the process. The blue is in V G condition, maybe reblued, need to take the grips & look/try to tell if it has & if factory did it.
I also have a blue & a nickel 2''.
The blue is long action, 1 line address, s.n. S 96889xx.
The nickel is the newer action, no address line s.n. C 1030xx.
I notice that your nickel one has no address line either, wonder what the story is on that?
The thread pitch for S&W grips is 44 TPI if I remember correctly (I made some several years ago), you won't find them in a hardware store. I don't have any spares anymore tho, the Magna grip screw is a little shorter than the one used for Target grips, seems like.
