    Bring Enough Gun

Back towards the beginning my accumulating firearms, I had a 32 Kel Tec for a while that I would sometimes carry in a pocket. I would say I felt under gunned. Nowadays I depend on a CZ PCR with light weight alloy frame and 14 Federal HST 9mm. I've also considered a model 66 for daily...

    First P&R Smith, 29-2

Range trip went pretty well. There is one within walking distance from work and I get an hour for lunch. The new grips didn't beat me up too bad, but I see what you mean when you shoot 6 Magnums quickly in double action. Mix of specials and magnum and SA/DA. Seems to print a little high.

    First P&R Smith, 29-2

Dang. I sold the rubber grips last night and am dropping them in the mail today. I should have kept them, but as cheap as they are I could get Hogue grips for less than what I sold the Mustang grips for. If I really need them. I was looking for original target grips but settled on the Altamont...

    First P&R Smith, 29-2

It was so simple even I didn't mess up! Although I let it dry a little too long. Or not enough. Apparently there is a sweet spot when to take the forms off and the epoxy was trying to come out of the channel when I took the forms off.

I've now cleaned all my guns. My M520 was the last one.

I've heard about Renaissance Wax. May have to try some out. I've always just used a cleaning patch and oil, or Eezox/Hornaday One Shot and wiped down with a microfiber rag. Haven't had much blued stuff, so any tips are appreciated.

    First P&R Smith, 29-2

The red sight insert arrived, crumbled in the case from shipping trauma I guess. I used an old gift card to make forms around the channel and 30 min epoxy mixed with a drop of Chevy engine red model paint to fill it back in. Was pretty easy.

    First P&R Smith, 29-2

After watching too many Hickok45 videos and Dirty Harry movies, I had to ditch the Taurus M44. It was actually a wonderful shooter. I felt like I needed something smooth and classic. Saw this 29-2 listed online on Guns International. Was at Cabelas in Indiana for $779.99. I think I did alright...

The ultimate Highway Patrolman thread.including N frame ser# ranges

Got this last week. First HP. 28-2 serial S276xxx. So 66 or 67 is my best guess. Wash. State Patrol marked. Looks heavily used as there is finish loss on the barrel and cylinder. Not abused (I hope). Not sure if the target grips are original, but I guess.

    Model 19-3 Different Colored Parts?

I don't like "bubba'd" stuff. I wanted a close to original 19-3, but I guess I will keep this one. The price was right. Ordered some factory wood target grips with the speedloader cutout. Might as well show off the nickel backstrap and horn I guess. The rubber grip covers the frame and most of...

    Model 19-3 Different Colored Parts?

I think the mystery has been solved. When you run your thumb over the back area you can tell the nickel is higher than the blue. The handle was dipped. No N marks.

    Model 19-3 Different Colored Parts?

Thanks for the replies. Why would someone want to polish off the case hardening? For looks? Would this affect the strength of the parts?

    Model 19-3 Different Colored Parts?

I was trying to say that it's a shiny color on the frame that goes down under the grips. I will take the grips off tonight to take a better picture.

    Model 19-3 Different Colored Parts?

I'm a newbie to revolvers, so I'm weak in knowledge here. That's why I just joined the forum. I recently purchased a 29-2, 28-2, and 19-3. The 19-3 that I just picked up has a nice looking blued finish but a very shiny hammer and trigger, and also area on the top of the grips that is shiny. It...
