Where to get quality reproduction Service Grips for 22LR Outdoorsman pre-K22 (1930’s)??

The K-22 target revolver went through 3 changes. The K-22 Outdoorsman came out in 1931. It is also known to collectors as the K-22 1st Model. The next iteration was the K-22 2nd Model AKA to collectors as the K-22/40 which came out in 1940 with click adjustable rear sights and a short-throw...

    U return Spring

S&W experimented with U and W shaped main/trigger return springs. IIRC, they were only placed in a few N frame guns and didn't last long.

Where to get quality reproduction Service Grips for 22LR Outdoorsman pre-K22 (1930’s)??

Max, your K-22 Outdoorsman is a K-22, 1st Model. Altamont made a version of the pre-war silver medallion service grips in the S&W Heritage series. I'm not aware of any other similar repros. I don't think they are currently in production so you'll likely have to find them on eBay or other market...

    M1917 Questions/Opinions

No. The face of the knob should be bright and shiny, not blued at all. But the knob itself will be blue. I'll try to find a picture. I have one somewhere.

    M1917 Questions/Opinions

Ok. Someone did a good job with the refinish based on the sideplate seam. Look on the front of the ejector rod knob. If it is in the white, the finish is original. If it is blued, it was refinished.

    Identification Help - New Member

The action should not be that light. But, the springs were likely annealed by the fire which has weakened them. Change out the main spring, rebound slide spring, cylinder stop spring, bolt spring and double action sear (fly) spring. You should be able to find them at Numrich or Jack First.

    M1917 Questions/Opinions

Welcome to the forums from the cotton and peanut covered plains of the Wiregrass! It appears the finish is satin nickel? If so, it is not original. Personally, I would not change anything on that one as it is in great shooter configuration with those sharp-shouldered magna grips as opposed to...

    Identification Help - New Member

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! That is a .38 Military & Police, Model 1905, 3rd Change, round butt. It was made around 1914 and the standard grips at the time were K frame, round butt, black hard rubber. Wooden circassian walnut with a flat, no medallion round top were special order...

    S&W model 1950

6.5" light barrels, like on your gun, were standard. Some 6.5" heavy barrels were experimental.

    S&W model 1950

Here's what the "Bible" says: Could be more if the barrel is 6.5". Deduct for the wrong grips and the trigger shoe.

New to Me: 1920 Military and Police .38 w/ King sights!

Nice! The stocks are sharp shouldered magnas from the late 1940's to 1953. Pretty valuable on their own.

32 i frame target birth date, please

Don't try to restore it or you will kill collector value. Clean it up as much as possible without removing any remaining finish then put Renaissance Wax on the outer surfaces...or keep it lightly oiled. The action on that gun is obsolete since 1905. Make sure to keep it clean and lightly oiled...

32 i frame target birth date, please

Well, it looks like a factory target. You really need to get an Historian's Letter of Authenticity from the Historical Foundation. It is reported than less than 200 were made.

32 i frame target birth date, please

Welcome to the forums from the cotton and peanut covered plains of the Wiregrass! Would you post better lighted pictures of the trademark stamp, any patent dates on top of the barrel and the caliber stamp? It could be a .32 HE Target (2nd Model HE). .32 Model 1903 Target serial 13762 shipped...

Value of a hard rubber? N frame S&W grip adapter

Yes. The Wesson Grip Adapter was two metal plates that mounted under the service grip panels and had a rubber piece between the back of the trigger guard and the front strap. The grip adapter in this thread is basically a Mershon/Pachmayr style. Wesson grip adapters sell in the $400+ range.

    Help with another identification please

.38/200 and .38 S&W are the same cartridge with different weight bullets. They are a shorter but larger in diameter cartridge than .38 S&W Special. In order for .38 Special to insert into a cylinder originally chambered for .38/200/S&W, the shoulder in the chamber has to be moved toward the...

    My 6" .32 Regulation Police

Very nice looking 6" RP! We don't see many with the long tube. S&W introduced the Regulation Police hand ejectors in 1917 with the gold medallion extended stocks. As Gil said, they stopped stamping the trademark for WWI and didn't resume until 1920 when they also removed the medallion from the...
